Review of the movie “Crash”
To be honest, this is the first time I ever write a review of a movie. And this beginning is a tough one—with an Oscar winner as its subject, surrounding which there is considerably controversy over the values it has questioned, the thoughts it tried to implicitly convey, and the art of the movie itself. In the movie "Crash", many characters and matters were experiencing in their most unforgettable crash in their life within such a short time. Actually, many stories in this movie are very common, but the director entrusts them with the significance of crash, it looks like crashes between different matters in the surface, but is the crash of human nature actually. Crash, in another word, conflict, comes suddenly, it is unable to be expected, but this kind the eruption which resists silently in the behind is actually inevitable, if it wouldn't happen in today, it would happen tomorrow. The eruption for human nature is also objective; the result may be good or bad. That's the best thing I thought of this movie after watching it. The director tells us, not all the people who experienced this kind to conflict are able to obtain the thought purification and have the opportunity to create a good life, it is possible that you may make a mistake which is unable to be made up for a whole lifetime. Since people cannot avoid the eruption of this kind of resistance, they should have to be responsible for the result of the eruption, no matter good or bad, unless people can eliminate it diligently before eruption.
These conflicts are no longer the legal issues, but an idea issue which has been precipitated into people's deep heart, as well as the obvious or not so obvious words and behaviors because of it. This kind of conflict may not be seen in a village or a small town, but in Los Angeles, such a bid metropolis, the inevitable collision between the human being can be displayed frequently. No matter whether people are willing to acknowledge, the diversity issue always stays there, thus, the discrimination exists, that is probably the subject what the movie wish to performance.
I think the most valuable place of the movie "Crash" lies in that, it dares to face all sorts of contradictions and conflicts in the metropolis life directly, and boldly displays it. The one-hour long movie has opened out the questions about metropolis people's living environment, depression, anxiety, race and cultural conflicts, rich and poor differentiation, morals, responsibility and so on. This movie should be a very good material for social worker and public administrators.
